6910th. I was in Darmstadt 29251 early 64 'til 66, then to Trabzon. While
in Darmtadt got attached to the
6911th and had fun going places and setting up. I retired in 87 and have
been working as a retiree vol.
for the last 6 or so years at Hanscom AFB with the Security Forces people.
My wife is still in, a nurse
with the 102nd FW at Otis ANGB MA. I am interested in hearing from guys that
were in Darmstadt
during my time frame. I was on Charlie, and designated driver for the judo
team, took a bus all over
Germany. I was supposed to go 2T to Peshwar, Pakistan, but ended up
at Trabzon Det 3-1. There's
a great bunch of guys who were with the 6910th in the 50's that I had the
pleasure of meeting a few
years ago at a reunion in Va, all comm center guys, tried to make the recent
reunion in OK in Sep but
couldn't. By the way, the first shirt during part of my tour, Greg Z., can
be reached at
gregzac@aol.com.
I think I was the only Jewish guy in the 6910th 64-66 time frame
era, certainly on "charlie" flight, and
definitely in the 6911th. During my stay with the 10th, there were only a
few guys permanently assigned
to the 11th and they were mostly AGE guys. All the 292's and 203's that I
remember came from flight. Paula Jaffe, Maj, 102nd MEDS, Otis ANGB MA

I have been going thru a lot of pages on Security Service in Germany and
all over, looking for people I know, and just sittling back and trying to
remember my past great days. I was assigned to the 6910th RGM at Darmstadt,
reported in in 1953, only to find out that they had been relocated to Landsberg
on Lech. I went there and worked for 3 years. Besides the 10th, the 12th
RSM was also assigned there. Later the 12th moved to Bonn and the 10th
became the 6901st and 05th, which moved, I think in 56 or 57 to
Zweibrücken. I did go there on a site survey (I was control of the DF
in Europe). We had contact with the 2nd, 85th, 12th, and 41st? RSMs. I retired
from USAFSS in '73, live in Alaska. Will answer any and all emails.

I was on Baker Trick - blue hats, Darmstadt, 9-56 through 8-59 as a Russian
Linguist. I remember our slogan "TPS" which the brass hated. I also remember
the small German pizza/sausage haus outside the main gate. It had a brick,
wood-fueled over for pizza and some really good foot long sausages. I went
from Airman Basic to A/2C my first 11 months, never got another stripe despite
being EWQ, so I got out and made my fortune as a computer
programmer/analyst. I was sent to Turkey for two months TDY in April and
May 1959, a Naval detachment. Never was on an air base with an airfield.
Own my own, as a civilian, I earned a Commercial Pilot's license, instrument
rating, Advanced Ground School Instructor, and Flight Instructor. I have
a BS in Physics/Math. I got married in 1969 and divorced in 1979. I have
three grown daughters and one grandson. I am in great health and still work
full time as an old goat who really knows computers. I remember Bobby Hobbs,
John Alaimo, Victor Cestaro, Jose Guadeloupe Romero, Sgt. Toner, and Capt.
Turinski. I have been in contact with Walt Keating for about a year now.

A/2C, 6911th RGM from 1959 until May 1961. I can't recall the Trick I was
on but my roommate was Al Sebring from either MD or DE. My other friends
were Richard Perrone from Tarrytown NY who I have been told put in his 20
years and retired to VA. I would really love to find him, also William Smith
from MN who grew up in Boys Town. Believe it or not, I went on a cruise 2
years ago and while walking in the Casino, I heard someone laugh and without
even turning around I knew it was Bill Smith. I also know Marty Dambrodt
who from CT. There was Ronald Kozar who married a German girl and rotated
back to the U.S. I recall Sgt Teague on my trick, two guys from IN who came
over on the buddy system, one guys father owned Flying Tiger Airlines and
the other guys father owned a tool and dye company. I recall a Sgt from OK
who couldn't pronounce my name and kept calling me Marvelous. I recall visiting
Phillips Bar and I think the blonde-haired waitress was Mary. I was the one
who pulled the paper from your typewriter every 30 minutes. It sure brings
back memories and it was some surprise to see an ad in my local newspaper
about a reunion for the 6911. Thanks, Don!

Dog Trick Mar 58 to Mar 61, sent over as a CW op but mostly ran
the "RF Distribution Panel". The had me set up the panel for the first trick
to go on duty in the temporary truck vans when they did the remodeling. Dog
Trick went on midnights at that time. I was trustee and President of our
DL4OL Mars/Amateur Radio Club in the Army HQ Bldg. Our club won the CQ World
Wide DX Contest in our Division in 1959. We set up a temporary communications
tent about a block from Frankenstein's Castle. Lots of good memories with

Hi Don. Don't know how close this is but I was in GlobeComm Headquarters

knew I was working a day. Finally on break, we were planning great fun, and
they ruined the day with an inspection. The second day it will rain no doubt,
and it looks like our break is about smoked out. The third day of break,
oh what a head, we wonder if we wouldn't be better off dead. The last day
of break we are as free as the breeze, and some fool comes along saying "lets
go work eves".....Da Di Dah

Your site brought back a lot of memories. I served in the USAFSS from
November, 1963 to October, 1967. Shipped overseas to Darmstadt after basic
and schools, the last being at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX. I was a
202X0. After all these years I cannot recall the flight I was on but Master
Sgt. Leonard Gaines and Captain Day ran the SWC. I was in Darmstadt at Cambrai
Fritsch Kaserne from October, 1964 to October, 1967. My wife and I
took our youngest daughter to Europe in 1994. We flew into Frankfurt Flughafen,
rented a car and took off. Eventually we came back to Frankfurt via Heidelberg
and Darmstadt. Found the Cambrai Fritsch Kaserne and got on it because it
was German-American week. That really brought back a lot of memories, even
though we did not live in base housing. Darmstadt has changed. Gotten
bigger. After 30 years, I had trouble finding my way
around.

(Fallen Hero). I had only
had internet services for a few weeks and had been looking for the old 6911th
off and on. I was stationed there in Baker Flight from June 1957 to May 1960.
I've often wondered about the fate of the old unit. Thank you for your wonderful
site and what a bonus to find you are a Christian too. I remember one guy
in Crypto (used to be located as you entered the building on the right side
if you went down the right hallway). I believe it was William McAllister.
He was extremely sharp, from Florida, got his A/1C stripe before I did (if
there had just been one more to go around, ha ha). He got a promotion to
go to Italy with NATO, got his S/Sgt stripes for that then later on made
Tech. I started there in Radio Printer which used to be where the Linguists
ended up in the late 50's, then a guy from NSA came over to train a few of
us in Non-Morse General Search and I was one of the fortunate ones to get
into that. Also a Sgt. Joesph Cloonan, Benny Parsons, John Aliamo (big camera
buff), my roomate named Leonard J. Proietto from Brooklyn. He used to work
DF off site and left stateside around '59. About 60528 that went
down out of Det 1. I knew one of the guys, can't remember
his name
. He would more than likely
have been an A/2C. He used to live down the hall from me
in
Darmstadt. A really nice guy. He was a linguist.

Thanks for putting together the website for the 6911th RGM and
organizing the reunion next year in Biloxi. I was stationed at Cambrai-Fritsch
Kaserne from October 1956 to September 1959 and worked as a radio traffic
analyst on Dog Trick. My roommates included at various times Ray Baldwin,
John Carter, Harold Jones, and several other guys whose names are slowly
coming back as I reflect on those days. Was sorry to hear that
Larry Platz died;
I last saw him in his hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania a couple of years after
we left the Air Force. Here is a little news on people not listed on the
website: Mike Brogi, who was from Highland Falls, NY and later lived in North
Carolina for several years, died about fifteen years ago. Norman Hecht, formerly
of Charlie Trick, lives at 19 Hillvale Road, Syosset, NY 11791-6916; his
phone number is (516) 938-3304 and his e-mail address is

anyone know anything about Bob Dull, Dennis Peterson, Charlie Brown (he still
owes me $25), or Clifford B. Smith? Or Colonel Fred Hardbrot (infamous for
firing our German KP workers and putting down the mutiny after he pulled
Charlie Trick's three-day passes)? Or Tech Sergeant Frank ____?, who was
in charge of Dog Trick operations? Or Vic ____?, who worked with me on Dog
Trick? Or Tom(?) Stackhouse, my guitar-playing roommate who quit the Air
Force? Or Phil Restino on Charlie Trick? Also, what was the name of the
lieutenant who was squadron commander, drove a Corvette, coached the basketball
team, and repeatedly had the concrete steps on one of the steps repoured
after someone scratched "TPS" in them several nights in a row? Would appreciate
hearing about any of these. My daytime phone is (202) 874-4444 and my e-mail

Lots of memories, 6910th-6911th, the Griesheim site, antenna field, DF shack,
Jake Bruckmann's buses, Pfungstadter Bier (ouch!) and the aroma it created
the following morning. I arrived Mar 58 as an AP and departed Feb 62. Much
of my time was in the gate shack handing out badges to you guys, taking them
from you when you went across to the snack bar for a cup (and conversation
with the pretty Fraulein working there). About 6 months I worked town patrol
with Charlie Company, 709th MP Btln, toured the Concordia, Philips, Hawaii,
La Paloma, Hauptpost, Dotterich Klause, Golden Ankor, the hotel in Trautheim
and the Cowboy Bar in Bensheim. (On my own time I opted for the museums,
churches, zoo, and historical sites (HA!). After my Deutsch became proficient
I worked Autobahn Patrol with "C" Company, accident investigations with the
German Polizei. Married a young, non-English-speaking girl from Jugenheim
an der Bergstrasse. She was 18, I was 22. We celebrate our 38th anniversary
in October. After Darmstadt, Great Falls, Montana walking around KC-97 aircraft
at 40-50 below, cross-trained as a '702' and went into Directorate of Operations
training for two years, scheduling Minuteman combat crews. Went to McGuire

Saw your web site. I was in 1st RSM at Johnson AFB, Honshu, Japan from 1949
to 1952. We were first Air Force intercept operators to take over from ASA
personnel. Also surveyed for detachment at Misawa AFB in 1950, opened up
Ashiya AFB (Det 12) in 1950, Taegu, Korea (1950) and Kimpo AFB, Korea (1951);
NCOIC of first USAFSS unit to Paeng-yong-do Island (off Korean coast) in
1951; surveyed Wakkanai, Japan in 1950 and was stationed there (TDY) in 1951
till I was evacuated to US Army General Hospital in Sapporo with a broken
leg. Left Japan in January, 1952 for Brooks AFB, Texas and was discharged
in March, 1952. If any of your guys has info on other 1st RSM members, need
to make contact. Realize we're getting on in years and may not be too many
of us left, but would like to get in touch with any old friends.

I am really looking forward to the reunion in Biloxi. I was in Darmstadt
from July 1958 to February 1961. I was a 20250 on Dog Trick the first ten
months and on Easy Trick thereafter. I spent my last days working in the
mail room after being de-briefed for marrying a German girl. I have lived
in the Greater Kansas City area since 1961. My best friend, Tom Adkins passed
away in 1971 of cancer. I think of him often. I'm sure many of the guys remember
him. He was a S/Sgt (202) on Easy Trick and worked on Baker before that.
I'm trying to find some of my old photographs (most are on slides) but I
will try to gather them up and pass them on. I have talked to Ernie Giannini,
Eugene Schlumpberger, Ed Tune, and they are all planning to come to the reunion.
I also talked to John George. I'm sending a few pictures. I will try to get
these and others together and upload them to the site you were telling me
about. Thanks for all the hard work you are doing for all of us.

I arrived in Germany in July of 1953 and was assigned to the 12th RSM located
at Landsberg/Kaufbeuren. We then moved to Sembach Air Base as Det 2, 12th
RSM. It seems to me that we then became the 85th RSM before becoming the
6914th. Although based at Sembach, our site was on a high hill in Gruenstadt,
with other sites at Wasserkuppe and Berlin. I was at Sembach from August
1953 to June 1956.

6911th 1957-59. After Darmstadt I went to McChord AFB WA, retired 1969 after
5 years at KI Sawyer AFB MI, and 18 months in SE Asia. I hope to hear from
some of the Air Police that were with the 6911th during our three years there.
I remember the night some of your people set fire to the hallway in the barracks.
I was in a first floor rooms with a window, so I figured if it got out of
control I could always jump out. I have good memories of the 6911th, one
of my better tours of duty. If you hear from other Security Personnel please
